An Introduction to Wenshan University The National Southwestern Teacher School, the predecessor of Wenshan University was moved to the south of Yunnan province from Zhaotong to Wenshan in 1947, based on which Wenshan Teacher Training School was founded in 1955 and then the government of Yunnan Province approved to establish Wenshan People’s College with the establishment of the Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Nationalities Autonomous Prefecture in 1958. With the foundation of Wenshan Teacher Training School and the approval of the Yunnan Provincial government, Wenshan Teacher College was formally founded in 1984. The school was officially upgraded into undergraduate university by the Ministry of Education named in 2009. The Wenshan University campus covers an area of 877 mu (acres) with 270,000 square meters of facility area. There are 950,000 works in the library with an estimated total value of 289 million Chinese Yuan and an estimated total value for the facilities of 47.47 million Chinese Yuan. There are 568 faculty and staff in the school, 520 of which are full-time teachers. Wenshan University has established eleven second-level institutes and one research department for ideological and political theory with 36 undergraduate programs in nine disciplines, covering literature, science, engineering, education, arts, history, law, management, and agriculture.…
